Beliefs from Experience

I believe very little in life is earned; even a paycheck depends on good health.

what we assume we have earned is from God’s grace and human kindness.

trust and forgiveness are gifts we receive from another.

we learn how important we are from dogs, how dispensable we are from cats.

peanut butter makes everything taste better, especially vegetables.

coffee and beer are sublime when dark.

I believe the process is more important than the product.

everyone can write and learn from their own writing.

by writing we remember.

by writing we interpret the past.

by writing we gain perspective.

I believe we learn by doing

real learning makes us want to learn more

superficial learning makes us feel superior

we can learn from anything, even bad examples

I believe that baseball mirrors life when it teaches you . . .

Success requires planning, collaboration, execution, some luck.

Even if  you are effective, others may be more effective.

Sometimes you fail, but you can turn failure into better execution.

When you have time to reflect, you can be better the next time.

The end almost never justifies the means.
